We are so pleased that you visited our website and may want to join us in our mission. Our greatest hope at the Friends of Shen Yun Society is that you, your family and friends will get to see a Shen Yun performance and experience the beauty and purity (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/spirituality) of 5,000 years of a divinely-inspired civilization.
Shen Yun Performing Arts, a dance company based out of New York state, has been traveling the globe since 2007, delighting audiences with ancient legends from China (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/explore/category/chinese-stories-history) and modern day tales of courage, compassion and grace. Traditional Chinese themes such as harmony with nature (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/explore/view/tag/name/Harmony%20With%20Nature) as well as Buddhist, Daoist and Confucian themes are represented every year with original musical scores drawn from traditional Chinese theories (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/news/view/article/e/MSu6ffW1Yf8/discover-the-healing-power-of-music-news.html).
Shen Yun has grown exponentially since its debut, from one touring group to six, visiting over 150 theaters in five continents. The company’s incredible success reflects a profound desire from people around the world who yearn for a transformative experience – one that can provide hope and renewed faith in what is good and possible.
We at Friends of Shen Yun Society aim to provide people in the Greater Philadelphia region, those who have or who have not yet seen Shen Yun, an opportunity to more deeply understand the values and mission of these unique performances (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/classical-chinese-dance-music-costumes-singers-and-more).
We invite you to attend one of our free cultivation workshops, where you can learn the practice of Falun Dafa, the meditative self-improvement system practiced by Shen Yun artists (https://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/spirituality/challenges-we-face) or sign up for an Ancient Wisdom Lecture (lectures will renew in the 2020 calendar year) to get a closer look at the philosophy and traditions behind every Shen Yun performance.

MISSION STATEMENT
Friends of Shen Yun Society is a non-profit organization with the mission of raising awareness of and engendering support for Shen Yun Performing Arts. We are committed to educating and enriching our communities with the values and traditional arts embodied by Shen Yun’s revival of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.
Our Story
FOSYS was founded in 2018 by a group of individuals who were so moved by Shen Yun’s productions that they wanted to ensure that these unique performances would remain accessible to the Greater Philadelphia region for years to come. What is Shen Yun?
Shen Yun Performing Arts, (www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org) is a charitable organization and premiere dance and music company based in New York State. The production company seeks to revive the true, five-millennia-old artistic traditions of China that thrived before decades of suppression by the Chinese communist regime. It seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture by providing a unique experience of sublime beauty.
Founded in 2006 by local artists in the United States, Shen Yun began touring in only a handful of cities in 2007. Today, the production company now has six groups which tour to five continents. Each year, Shen Yun unveils a new and unique compilation of all original dance and music compositions to over a million theatergoers. Shen Yun and its mission have drawn top talent from around the world; many artists are winners of international competitions in dance, choreography, and music.
